APRIL 28-29, 2007
I attended a a Chi Kung With Horses Worshop in November, 2006. It was a most unusual and interesting experience. If you would like to learn more about this, please visit Robert Marchand at www.ChiKungWithHorses.com. The next workshop in Connecticut will be April 28-29, 2007. The March Workshop was postponed due to weather. The June Workshop is cancelled.
JULY 15-16, 2006
The first annual Connecticut Equine Trade Show took place in Somers, CT, at the Four Towns Fair Grounds on July 15th and 16th, 2006. Despite the very warm weather, a good time was had by all. Vendors displayed a plethora of wonderful items from barns to beads. The 'home-cooked' food was delicious. Presentations varied from the Sumerel Therapy System which allows you to locate and help correct physical problems in your horse, to a lecture on 'How To Sell the Unsaleable Horse'.
Horse and Handler was honored to participate in the Connecticut Equine Trade Show. Judith 'officiated' at the Horse and Handler table which displayed useful information about Natural Fly Control from Arbico, Roadside Assistance for Trailers from USRider, the Equine Management Program at Post University, and the Arabian Horse Breed and Association. Visitors were invited to take fliers.
Judith also presented 'Understanding the Horse', 'Basic Conversation', and 'Advanced Exercises' - each a one hour condensation from the information she teaches in seminars, private lessons, and as a class for Post University. Lyftoff, Judith's 24 year old gelding, assisted her in true magnificent Arabian Horse fashion throughout the Trade Show. His favorite moments seemed to be when children visited Horse and Handler. Lyftoff would lower his head gently to be petted by the smallest toddler.
Elaine Britz, founder and guiding light for the Connecticut Equine Trade Show, says we will all be back next year, with many upgrades. Horse and Handler looks forward to this.
As Horse and Handler is dedicated to helping Horses and Humans who interact with them, our Links Page lists web sites we have found useful, alphabetically by catagory.
There is a wealth of information on the Barefoot Hoof sites, ranging from why horse shoes are detrimental to the horse's health, to how to perform a barefoot trim yourself. Several have directories to locate Hoof Care Specialists around the country.
Arbico has suppied Horse and Handler Arabians with predator wasps to control flies faithfully for more than 15 years of summer comfort.
The Bitless Bridle was developed by Dr. Robert Cook after years of research into physical (and the resulting mental) problems in horses that all pointed to the bit as the source of the trouble. This information is described in his book, "Metal in the Mouth" by W. Robert Cook, FRCVS, PhD & Hitrud Strasser, Dr. med. vet. PhD, which is available on his web site - www.bitlessbridle.com.
